In this participatory workshop, you’ll learn to use the “Santa Claus” mentality to chuckle at put downs, rather than taking offense. You’ll hear insults as a bigot’s way of propping himself up, rather than as truth about you. But that’s just the beginning.
In conflicts, we naturally blame the other party. But the most powerful way to change others is to recognize the part we play in the interaction.
For this reason, we’ll listen to the comical song “Everyone’s A Little Bit Racist”. We’ll list the negative stereotypes that hang over our communities and then confront the hard question “If these stereotypes aren’t true, where did they come from?”. Finding the truth in stereotypes gives us the power to change them.
Finally, you’ll discover which bigots you can positively influence – because they already respect you. Then you can be the change you want to see in the world.
